Rhythms of the Diaspora: Family Drum & Dance Circle
Join multidisciplinary artist Jordan Taylor Hill for an interactive, high-energy drumming and movement experience designed for all ages. Families will explore rhythm through call-and-response songs, body percussion, live drumming, and simple movement rooted in West African and Afro-Caribbean traditions.
No experience is needed—just a willingness to participate. Jordan will bring drums and percussion instruments, and participants are also welcome to use their voices, hands, and feet as instruments. This joyful circle centers connection, creativity, and the power of rhythm to bring people together across generations.
Jordan Taylor Hill is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and cultural practitioner specializing in Afro-diasporic drumming, dance, and storytelling. His work bridges West African and Afro-Caribbean traditions through interactive performances and workshops that center rhythm, history, and collective participation. A 2026 NYSCA Support for Artists grant recipient through New York Folklore, Jordan is currently developing Songs Born of Tradition, a collection of new works rooted in his studies of traditional rhythms and movement.
About Family Circle
The Egg’s Family Circle is a monthly series designed especially for families to connect, create, and experience the arts together.
Held on the first Saturday of every month at 2PM in The Egg’s lobby, this free program offers a welcoming, informal environment where kids and caregivers alike can feel at home.
This isn’t a concert where kids have to sit quietly; each program is purposefully interactive, celebrating arts from around the globe with creatives who are based right here in the Capital Region.
The Egg’s Family Circle Series is supported by M&T Bank
