The Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY will present a one-act twenty minute play with local young actors. There will also be monologues, poetry, and dance.

Mission:
The Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York’s goal is to foster cross-cultural understanding and to create more diversity on stage and in theatre by highlighting, producing and promoting performance and theatre arts by marginalized artists in upstate New York. We aim to expand the cultural landscape and create a place for Artists of Color to grow and thrive, existing as a mentoring company that educates new artists of all ages. We believe in the value of diverse and meaningful representation, the disruption of systemic racism through art, and providing safe spaces for BIPOC artists to share and grow. We value all identities and commit to continuing to evolve throughout the rest of our existence, helping to make the world of theatre a more just, equitable, and inclusive space for all.
We center Black stories and stories by BIPOC artists on stage, celebrating non-White narratives within the BIPOC community while also helping to educate our White audiences. Productions give voice to historical and modern stories of racial injustice and Black trauma, while also examining other issues related to identity, implicit bias, and societal changes and challenges. We have talkbacks with the audience during each production, fostering conversation around the complex subjects raised in our material. These talkbacks allow artists to share their process and audiences to share their learning together in a safe, supported environment.
About Family Circle:
The Egg’s Family Circle is a monthly series designed especially for families to connect, create, and experience the arts together.
Held on the first Saturday of every month at 2PM in The Egg’s lobby, this free program offers a welcoming, informal environment where kids and caregivers alike can feel at home.
This isn’t a concert where kids have to sit quietly; each program is purposefully interactive, celebrating arts from around the globe with creatives who are based right here in the Capital Region.
