CCC Year of the Snake Lunar New Year Gala Show
In Chinese folk culture, the snake was once the earliest totem of the Chinese nation and so has been called the ancestor god. Goddess Nuawa, who used her own body to fix the falling sky to save humankind on earth, has a human head and snake body.
As one of the traditional Chinese zodiac signs, the snake follows the dragon and is often called the “little dragon.” 2025 is the Year of the Green Snake, so it is also known as the “Little Green Dragon” year. In the Chinese Zodiac, the Snake symbolizes wisdom, charm, elegance, and transformation. Those born in the Year of the Snake are often regarded as intuitive, strategic, and intelligent.
The Chinese Community Center was founded in 1973 and this will be its 52nd Lunar New Year show. It started as a small celebration and now has grown into a Gala show with an audience of hundreds from across the Capital Region. It features both community-based programs and professional performers.
Last year’s Year of the Dragon Lunar New Year show in the Egg was sold out, demonstrating the popularity of the CCC Lunar New Year show and the dedication of the CCC performers.
This year the CCC will present a show with eighteen exciting performances and will be the largest performing team in CCC history. The program will include audience favorites such as authentic Peking Opera, Chinese Kungfu, elegant traditional fan and long sleeve dances, Mongolian dances, an upscale chorus, a folk instrument ensemble, modern hip-hop dance and more.
